Thoughts on AI and human consciousness

Even with some of the finest scientific minds working on the problem of defining the real nature of human consciousness, it is still not properly understood. This quest is not just a modern thing, it has been ongoing for thousands of years. The ancients grappled with it as we do.

Anyway, AI, seems patchier than we expected at least for now. I expect it will refine itself exponentially. The advanced version that some people sign up for seems very wise as it is tapping in to and synthesising the bulk of human knowledge already in cyber space. I am told It can seem like a clever friend.

The real question is then ( and I have covered some of this already as I researched my first two books. Aspects of reality- a users guide to the universe and Super Clues to reality, now available on kindle) what is the difference between a seemingly conscious computer brain and the definitely conscious human brain? Is it as much as we think? Are the lines blurring just a bit? At what point does a machine become conscious the way we are?  What do you think?
