What should we do?

What can we do in these difficult and frighting times?
The world has never seemed so unstable and scary as it does now. Although I must point out that as one who grew up in the 50’s, nuclear war was considered imminent then ( Bay of Pigs etc), Dreadful things were going on all over the world but we, pre internet, did not know about them. Unless the BBC told us, of course! But here we still are.
Anyway, although we think we know what is going on, we feel powerless to stop it. Just posting on social media does not do much to help! We of course do not know the half of it, anymore than we did then.
What can we do? All I can tell you is that we have to learn to be individually resilient. The inhabitants of every other European country and, of course the Baltics, have had a leaflet through their doors. This advises them what to do, and what emergency supplies to have in. It may not be a nuclear war, it may be cyber attacks ( by an enemy or just for to extort money) or a pandemic. In an overcrowded island our infrastructure is more fragile than you would think. Although help from central government may come there will be a lag. Could we trust our water? Would the power go off? The internet may stop working? What about our food chain, as a nation we cannot actually feed ourselves. Mayhem would ensue.
So we need clean water, torches, candles and supply of tinned food that does not need cooking. I do have a more extensive list, but that is the absolute basics.
Message me if you want a copy. Discuss with your family and friends what to do in an emergency.
So don’t panic but take the basic precautions. Also talk to your local councils and ask them what they are doing. Some towns and villages already have emergency plans, but most have their heads in the sands. Individual resilience will save lives.
